Founder
Sam has 16 years of experience litigating a broad range of civil cases. He has represented clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to personal injury plaintiffs. The majority of his litigation practice has focused on mid-sized business litigation.
He regularly represents builders, developers, and property owners in litigation and arbitration stemming from disputes relating to new construction and remodeling of existing structures. He has litigated a wide range of construction-related issues, including mechanic’s liens, change orders, misappropriation of deposits, timeliness of performance, quality of workmanship, and construction defects.
In his insurance coverage practice, he exclusively represents corporate and individual policyholders suing their insurers for coverage. He has represented a manufacturer with a business interruption claim, a large manufacturer seeking over a billion dollars in coverage for asbestos liability, as well as public and private utilities seeking hundreds of millions of dollars of coverage for environmental liabilities. In addition to this commercial insurance coverage practice, he has represented individual policyholders suing their insurers to recover against policies of disability insurance, homeowners’ insurance, life insurance, and auto insurance.
Mr. Russell has represented clients in arbitration, both under the D.C. Arbitration Code, applying the American Arbitration Association’s Construction Industry Arbitration Rules, and under the UK Arbitration Act of 1996.
Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Russell practiced in some of the country’s largest firms in Florida and Washington, D.C.
